How to use GeekGrade - Windows
Rquirements:
- iso/ ipsw
- iReb
- iTunes Installer 11.0 32-bit 64-bit
- redsn0w
Process:
- First of all you have to make sure that your device is on a clean version of iOS. It mustnt be Jailbroken, otherwise the downgrade will fail!
If its Jailbroken, restore it through the latest version of iTunes to the latest version of iOS avaible for that device
- Once youre on a clean version of iOS, you can begin the downgrade. Go in your Music folder and you will find another folder (inside Music) called "iTunes", rename it in "iTunes_orig"
- Now open up the Control Panel, and click on "Uninstall a Program"
- From the list, select "iTunes" and click on "Uninstall". Follow the steps on the screen to uninstall it
- Once you halleve uninstalled iTunes, right click on "iTunes instar 11.0" previously downloaded and select "Run as Administrator"
- Follow the steps to install the old version of iTunes (this will be a crucial step for the downgrade)
- Once youve installed iTunes 11.0, plug your device into your computer and put it in DFU Mode (if you dont know how to do this, heres a brief videotutorial)
- Ok, if your device is in DFU Mode, you can begin, right click on "iReb" and select "Run as Administrator"
- iReb will pop up on the screen. From there, click on the button that corresponds to your device model and wait few seconds.
- After 5 or 6 seconds, iReb will say that your device is in Pwned DFU State
- Now open up iTunes 11.0 and it will find your device in DFU Mode, now hold down shift on your keyboard and in the meanwhile, click on "Restore iPhone"
- Choose the GeekGrade_IPSW and click "Open"
- There it is! iTunes will flash the downgraded firmware!
After about 10 minutes, the process will finish and your device will reboot itself in Recovery Mode (iTunes + cable logo). Dont worry if you see the Recovery Image of the old firmware, its normal!
You have to do a boot tethered in order to load the operating system. You must do this every time you want to switch it on after a shutdown. So lets see how to do that!
- Right click on RedSn0w and select "Run as Administrator"
- On RedSn0w, click "Extras", then click on "Select IPSW" and choose the Boot_IPSW downloaded previously
- Now click on "Just Boot"
- Make sure that your device is plugged into your computer and put it into DFU Mode
- Redsn0w will boot your device into the old iOS firmware, congrats!
